Sanford Junior High School's Garden
Eleven out of seventy-seven. In the past five years at SJHS, this is the number of staff who have dealt with cancer - but not alone. Through the years we have reached out and supported each other by making meals, creating personalized scarves and quilts, sending countless emails and cards, and holding unique fundraisers.

October 2009: Breaking ground in preparation for our 500 tulip bulbs!
In the fall of 2009 we took our support to a new level by planting and registering a Pink Tulip Garden. From day one this project helped bring our school together. Students and staff dug and planted the garden in the fall, held fundraisers during the winter, and tended and watered the garden throughout the summer. The highlight of the year, however, was in the spring when the tulips bloomed and we as a school community dedicated the garden with our memories, tears, and hope.

April 2010: SJHS Garden of Perennial Hope
The dedication of our Tulip Garden led to our school’s planning and filming our own Pink Glove video Hundreds of students and staff worked together for weeks choreographing, dancing, and finally filming our personal tribute to all those who have been touched by cancer.
Through these experiences our students and staff have demonstrated that cancer affects us all, and no one walks that road alone.
